Primary source:
Tom Hayden's Students for a Democratic society helped pave a path for all individuals. His goal was to make the American society more well rounded. His efforts may have seemed illogical, and unrealistic at this time, but the supporters and members is what helped form this movement in the 1960's. Many things needed to be changed in order to form a better society. For example, he wanted to end the draft, build stronger relationships between "brotherhood" and to give equal participation in democracy and economics. The overall force in propelling this movement was to end the war immediately, and pull out troops; and help the underclasses in America.
Evaluation:
Tom Hayden spent a majority of this life fighting for what he believed in. He was arrested on several accounts in order to get his point across, and to show Americans that we can INDEED make a change, all you need is a little hard work and determination. Overall I believe Tom Hayden did a fine job as a Student Activist leader, he showed his pride and dedication during all of his speeches, and marches. Tom Hayden is still an active leader in our world today, and is still making an effort to change our world, a little at a time.
